In the Orthodox Christian Church, every task we take on and everything we accomplish is done collectively–there are no individuals here.

What we need most of all to make this happen is talent. We want to give you the chance to put your God-given skills to use and contribute to a great cause. You might also have the opportunity to broaden your skills by working under a subject matter expert.

This will also provide you with an opportunity to build and foster relationships with other individuals from different parishes across the United States.

While this is a massive undertaking–there’s no sugarcoating that–we can all make it happen if we work together and contribute a little bit here and there. We all have lives: families to take care of, full time jobs to work, hobbies, and other commitments. Our aim is to be able to work towards this goal in manageable segments so this project doesn’t become just another thing on the to-do list that weighs us down or causes stress.

Here are some of the ways you can contribute:

Facilitation, Synchronization, and Deconfliction: Responsible for holding meetings, preparing slide decks, preparing and sending out emails and other communications, promoting open dialogue and collaboration between committees, avoiding stovepipes, and determining which committee gets what resources for what effort at which time, and avoiding conflicts where a committee makes a decision that can impact others negatively.

Legal, Taxes, and Finance: We need a few highly professionalized experts in these fields in order to ensure that we are operating within tax code, fulfilling our obligations towards municipal, county, state, and federal authorities, and ensuring that our income and expenditures are accurately logged in a ledger and accounted for to facilitate auditing.

Culinary Arts, Food Service, and Sanitation: This involves every step of the meal planning process from designing the menu, calculating ingredients from the number of RSVPs, cooking, serving, and even washing dishes. This is a highly involved and people-facing committee.

Public Relations, Advertising, and VIP Coordination: We have to tell people who we are and what we are about in order to attract potential donors. We also need individuals who can work with outside agencies and organizations to make special accommodations for any VIPs in attendance.

Information Technology, Web Design, and SEO: We need some specialized assistance maintaining and improving this website in terms of efficiency, SEO optimization, and design.

Venue and Decoration: We need someone who knows how to pick the right venue that supports the right number of guests, provides accessibility, suitable tabling and seating, and can set up theme-appropriate décor.
